Holy Cross College's library provides a modern and comfortable environment in which to study. All students are automatically members of the library and can use it to borrow books, read periodicals, research coursework and homework and use the PCs and laptops.

Resources Available:

  • Online Resources are available for access 24/7 via the library moodle page both on and off campus. Subject specific databases such as Literature on line (LION) for literature students and History Study Centre as well as cross subject databases such as Infotrac (articles from newspapers and journals) are available.
  • E-books on many subjects available from the library catalogue.
  • There are ten networked computers in the library plus 20 wireless networked laptops for use in the library.
  • A scanner for student use and a photocopier are also available.
  • Magazines are provided to support all curriculum areas but also many for leisure reading. Vogue, Radio Times, New Musical Express are just some leisure periodicals that are taken.
  • 5 daily broadsheet newspapers are available.
  • A TV and dvd room can be booked for watching educational dvds or for working in groups of up to 7 people.
  • Two study areas; one for silent study and one for working in groups.
  • Then of course there are the books, 22,500 at the last count. Every subject you study will have some books which will help you with your coursework and homework as well as wider reading. Our fiction stock varies from horror to history, science fiction and fantasy as well as classics and romance.
