GCSE Science

This course gives a student a broad scientific knowledge and a valuable qualification, which is required for many jobs in the health services and all teacher training institutions. This course, therefore, a:racts those students who have failed to achieve this at High School yet need to now do so in order to maximize their choice of higher education courses. Twenty First Century Science is a GCSE science courses developed to give all 14 to 16 year olds a worthwhile and inspiring experience of science.


 
Future Prospects

 

What Will I Be Studying?

Candidates entering for the GCSE Twenty First Century Science qualification should complete 4 external tiered unit assessments plus two internal untiered, teacher assessment tasks.

• Module 1 studies the elements of applied biology looking at genetics, health issues, evolution and homeostasis.

• Module 2 studies the elements of applied chemistry, with particular links to the work of a professional scientist. Students here study the chemistry of air quality, properties of materials and the chemistry of food production.

• Module 3 studies the elements of applied physics studying the universe, how radiation effects life and applications of radioactive materials.

• Module 4 is a practical data analysis and case study to be completed over a period of time during the course and an open book examination.

• Module 5 is an internal practical assessment completed
