GCSE Italian

This is an exciting new course which enables students to study a language not usually offered by most schools or colleges. As far as we are aware we are the only VI Form College in the area to run this course! This has proved to be a popular and lively course and will give you the opportunity to study a beautiful language and gain an insight into Italy and its culture.

Future Prospects

There is a lack of Italian speaking linguists in the UK as the language is not generally offered in schools or colleges. It is however a useful language for business or simply for holiday purposes!

What Will I Be Studying?

The course will be assessing the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. There will be a large emphasis on the spoken word and an introduction to the culture of Italy. All students will undertake a writing paper. i.e., there will be no coursework.  The examination will be as follows:-

1. Speaking test. (One role play, a short presentation and a general conversation)

2. A 50 minute reading test

3. A 40 minute listening test

4. A 60 minute writing test
