Most students go on to specialised degree courses in Art & Design. There are many careers open to you
from fine art to industrial design, including restoration, museum work, arts administration, advertising,
photography, textiles, fashion, television, communications, occupational therapy and teaching. Most
things around you have been designed by or required the skills of a trained artist in their production or
promotion.
You will be following a broad course where you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas.
All projects start with drawing and could develop into the areas of painting, photography, three
dimensional work, mixed media, fashion design, textile and computer based artwork. This course
combines coursework with critical and contextual work and externally set examination projects.
AS (first year) - The AS examination is made up of one coursework project and a controlled test
supported by preliminary studies.
A2 (second year) - The A2 examination builds on work done in the first year and is made up of one
coursework project, a relating written and illustrated critical and contextual study and a controlled test
supported by preliminary studies.
