Business Studies (BTEC)

You will be working in a high achieving environment where students are fully supported to achieve their potential. It is possible to continue your studies; many students successfully progress from the Diploma to studying at AS and A2 level.


 
Future Prospects

The course prepares you well for progression to AS Business Studies or a similar advanced course, while it is not direct vocational training, it will help those interested in accounting, administration, sales, marketing, insurance or financial services.

What Will I Be Studying?

The BTEC First Diploma is a qualification which is practical in approach and relevant to the working world, and which is aimed to provide you with a broad base introduction to business. It takes up two blocks on the timetable and explores different types of business, what they do and what is involved in various jobs.

 

The course is made up of six units: three core units which are:

 

  • Introduction to Business Activity
  • Exploring Business Pressures
  • Investigating Financial Control
  • and three specialist units including:
  • Business Communication
  • Business Online
  • Starting up a new Business

Entry Requirements
You will need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D. Please note this course is a one year intermediate course equivalent to 4 GCSEs.
