Holy Cross University Centre provides a local network base for library, computer and tutor support whilst training to be a primary teacher.
The course is primary age 5 - 11. Course content covers the full primary range and trainees have a brief introduction to the Foundation Stage in Reception and to KS3. Trainees teach both Key Stages 1 and 2 during the course.
Trainees attend Holy Cross College for 2 seminar meetings per term which take place between 7pm and 9pm. These sessions are compulsory.
There are also 20 compulsory days, spread out over the 2 year course, which runs in partnership with Liverpool Hope University.
The course starts in May each year and finishes two years later in March.
The course is aimed at high-quality graduates from the North West, living within a reasonable distance from Holy Cross College, who may otherwise not be in a position to access a teacher training course.
