Holy Cross University Centre provides a unique model of student support for those studying for a degree locally.
The course is aimed at people working with pupils with additional needs.
For those wishing to go into teaching, this may not be the route for you. Alternative courses such as BATLMP may be more appropriate.
Taught sessions will take place one day a week (to be confirmed) from 4pm - 8pm during term-time
Duration: 2 years
Six months relevant work experience, paid or voluntary, in a school setting.
A Level 3 qualification is desirable.
At least 2 GCSEs including Grade C in English or Maths or equivalent is desirable.
Level 4
- Personal and Professional Development
- Work based practice
- Introduction to the current educational context, legislation, policies and initiatives impacting on schools/settings and their workplace
- Working with other people: roles, teamwork, and partnership in the changing multi professional workplace
- Introduction to working with children and young people with additional needs
Level 5:
- Reflective tasks on work-based learning
- Working safely with other people, children and young people
- Mentoring and coaching other professionals in the workplace
- Developing practice working with children and young people with additional needs

If the applicant is experienced, employed within a school and has a head teacher's reference, then an interview is not required. Interviews are required for applicants working in a voluntary capacity or for those with limited experience.
