The course duration is 15 months

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at those with appropriate foundation degrees (not necessarily early years), who wish to top up to Honours level.  The EYPS element involves gaining evidence to support the Early Years Professional Standards status.

What do I need to get onto the course?
  • A Foundation Degree or HND in a relevant subject.  (External degrees will be mapped against Edge Hill programmes through APL).
  • If not tightly-related Foundation Degree/HND, applicant would also need experience in leadership/management roles in early years.
  • Degrees must have been taken within the last 3 years.
  • GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and maths prior to the course.
  • Physically and mentally fit to work as an EY professional.
  • CRB cleared.
  • Employed in an eligible practice-based setting/role with experience of three age settings:-
  • 0-20 months
  • 16-36 months
  • 30-60 months

If not experienced in any one of these areas, applicants needs a placement of at least 10 days of age-specific enhancement.  Will need to undertake tasks with each age range and evidence this; hence, it is vital to have this experience.

  • Applicants need to work with voluntary or independent providers, children's centres or must work for local authorities in improving these sectors.  Those working in a foundation unit in a school are unfortunately not eligible for this course.
What will I study?

Modules include:

  • EYPS modules 1-9
  • FFD 3200 Self Evaluation, Improvement and Management of Change
  • FFD 3201 Working Beyond the Educational Setting with Teams of Other Professionals
