Exam Information

Students view their individual examination entries, exam timetables and seating plans in the Exams section of the College ‘MyView’ area.

We are now accepting A-level resit applications from 2023 leavers.  Please contact exams@holycross.ac.uk for further information.  The deadline to apply is 11:00am, 8th February 2024.  Application form linked here.

Taking Examinations:

Students are responsible for abiding by JCQ/awarding body regulations and college procedures. This information is made available to all students via their Exams pages in ‘Myview’, and also on the Exams section of the college Moodle.

Contingency Day: Awarding bodies designate a day following the summer exam timetable known as a Contingency Day. This is in place to be used in the event of a national or local incident when exams on a timetabled day may need to be moved. As more than one timetable date may be affected students must remain available up to and including the contingency day. Information regarding summer 2021 exams is yet to be confirmed.

Coursework/NEA/Practical Assessments: Information regarding completion of this type of assessment and any deadlines that students must meet, are issued by each subject area. JCQ regulations apply to these assessments which are available on the student’s Exam pages in ‘MyView’, and also on the Exams section of the college Moodle.

Accessing Results: Results for exams taken during the academic year are either accessed via the student’s ‘MyView’ area under the heading of ‘Exams’, or they are issued by departmental staff.

For results following the main summer exam series students can collect a Statement of Provisional Results from the college on results day. Results information is only given to the student they belong to. No information will be given over the telephone. If collection is by a third party then we will need a letter of authority from the student naming the representative A copy of the letter along with ID should be presented at the time of collection.

Post Results Services: Each of the awarding bodies offer an Enquiry About Results service following issue of results. A description of the services offered is available via the link below. Fees and strict deadlines are issued by the awarding bodies for each of these services and up-to-date information is issued to students on Results Day.

Certificates: Certificates issued by the awarding bodies are kept on file in the Examinations Department until a student has completed their Level 2/3 studies. Certificates from the main summer examination series are issued by the awarding bodies in early November. Once certificates have been collated for each student they are posted to the student’s home address using the second class Recorded Delivery service. This will be carried out over several weeks but if any student requires their certificates prior to posting they can be collected from the Examinations Department - these must be signed for. A representative may collect certificates on behalf of a student on production of a letter of authority from the student, naming the representative and the relationship with the representative (eg mother/father etc). E-mail authorisation from a student’s personal email sent to the Examinations Department is acceptable. See Contact information below.

Any certificates returned by the postal service will be refiled and available for collection for up to 5 years from the date of issue after which time they will be confidentially destroyed.
