FULL MARKS FOR JENNY!
Jenny has just completed her A levels with us here at Holy Cross and is now preparing to move on to Cambridge University. Jenny was one of our twelve students who achieved 5 grade As at A level this summer since the results were published. We have now been informed of her performance in her A level Physics exam. She scored 600 marks out of a possible 600 a perfect score.
Jenny and her parents are to be invited to London for a prize giving and award ceremony in November hosted by the Edexcel (Salters Horners) exam board. Jenny has been an exceptional student during her time at Holy Cross and someone who has contributed much to the college in the two years she has been here. We wish her every success at Cambridge and in the future.

HOLY CROSS HITS A HIGH CENTURY!!
In Principal David Frosts first year students at Holy Cross Sixth Form College in Bury have once again produced some outstanding results in their A level examinations with 146 students achieving at least 3 A grades at A level this summer. As a result we are confident that the grades achieved by our students this year will enable us to retain our TOP TEN position NATIONALLY for A Level results making this the fifth consecutive year that we have achieved this outstanding level of success.
An initial study of the A Level results indicates:
- An overall pass rate of 99.1% (up from 99.0% in 2008)
- 60.1% are at grades A and B (up from 58.2%)
- A grades alone at 30.5% (up from 27.2%)
This is based on approximately 820 students taking A Levels at Holy Cross in 2009 and it is crucial to recognise that these figures are based on one of the highest retention rates in the country.
From David Frost Principal of Holy Cross College: I am absolutely delighted with these results. Not only has the outstanding pass rate gone up again, but the all important A/B grades have increased quite significantly from 58% to over 60%. Students coming to Holy Cross therefore know they are going to achieve their very best potential in their A Levels. Naturally I want to congratulate all our students our remarkable staff and the whole College team on an outstanding set of results.
