Coming to a leading college like Holy Cross means a new start, new people to meet and exciting new opportunities in one of the top ten colleges nationwide for university entry. It means joining a really supportive and ambitious environment, being a proper student, and beginning to lay plans for an exciting future.
The College was founded by the Daughters of the Cross of Liège to be a place of academic excellence and genuine care, where Christian values are fostered; a deeply human place, where people would find understanding and friendship, and a huge welcome. This welcome, of course, fully extends to those of other faiths and backgrounds. Our door is open to all.
The Sixth Form College has a long track record as a specialist A Level centre. We have a first rate system of pastoral care and support, with specialist tutors to guide your studies and help you achieve your goals. Smaller and more friendly than many large FE colleges, but still big enough to feel rather different from schools: an excellent preparation for university or employment alike.
The College also includes an equally successful University Centre where students can take full honours degrees and also a wide range of other higher education qualifications designed to help people progress in their careers. You may live locally and want a more economical way to gain a degree, studying part time while working, or making space for family commitments. If so, do come and talk to our friendly University Centre staff.
Ours is a proven track record and huge experience, not a recent development, and the Oxbridge, medical, scientific, performing and sporting achievements of our students are well known. For example, 8 of our students have received Oxbridge offers this year, entry to Russell Group and other prestigious institutions has been exceptionally high. We are 6th in the country amongst Sixth Form Colleges for successful university entry.
We are based in beautiful buildings on a small, compact site, near the centre of Bury (with its excellent transport links). Here you will find real academic commitment and passion for study and research among staff and students, and plenty of opportunities for developing leadership and your own unique interests.
We look forward very much to welcoming you warmly.
