Columban Missionaries inspire students with global peace and justice work

5th Mar 2026

The Core RE and Theology department were delighted to welcome representatives from the Columban Missionaries for an enriching and thought‑provoking visit.

Columbans Missionaries Visit

The guests spoke to students about their international work promoting peace, justice and ecological stewardship across the globe, including in countries such as the Philippines, Peru and Taiwan.

During the session, students explored the real‑world impact of global inequalities and gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by marginalised communities.

The talk connected directly with their current studies on Catholic Social Teaching, allowing students to see how the principles they learn in the classroom can inspire meaningful action in today’s world.

The visitors also shared the Columban Missionaries’ core mission: to participate in God’s mission and help to build a world of peace with justice, caring for the integrity of creation and standing in solidarity with poor, exploited and marginalised communities. Their message encouraged students to reflect on how faith‑based values can shape a more compassionate and just global society.

The RE and Theology department extends its thanks to the Columban Missionaries for providing such an insightful and inspiring experience for our students.
