A huge congratulations to Niamh McCaffery from Lower Sixth, who danced her way to a World Champion title at the World Irish Dancing Championships in Dublin over Easter.
Niamh represented Keegan Academy alongside her teammates in the Senior Mixed 8-Hand Céilí over-16 category at the annual event, which showcases the best Irish dancers from across the globe.
Niamh’s Senior Mixed 8-Hand Céilí group topped the table in their final group, giving them the title of World Champions.
If that wasn’t enough, Niamh (fourth from right, above) also auditioned for Lord of the Dance while she was over in Dublin, in front of Michael Flatley himself.
She received a callback and now has to submit a recording of her audition to see if she makes the final cast for the world-famous touring production.

Niamh first started Irish Dancing at Keegan Academy when she was just three years old, and when she’s not completing around four practices a week, she also teaches some of the younger Irish dancers there in her spare time.
Her Mixed 8-Hand Céilí team had to succeed at regional competitions in November to qualify for the World Irish Dancing Championships.
