We’d like to congratulate Saint, one of our Upper Sixth Chaplaincy students, who has recently been welcomed into the Catholic Church.
Saint has been on an incredible faith journey whilst here at Holy Cross, discerning the right path for her.
After volunteering as part of the Lourdes group last year, Saint returned full of joy and hope and declared that she would like to become a Catholic.
Saint has been supported by one of our local parishes and by Kelly Needham, our Lay Chaplain, as her sponsor.
Kelly said: “It was such a blessing to have been asked by Saint to be her sponsor and to stand by her side as she made her Baptismal promises. Saint received three Sacraments of the Catholic Church on the same day which was wonderful to witness.”
Part of being Confirmed involved Saint choosing a Confirmation name. The saint is chosen to serve as a spiritual guide and model for the person and the chosen saint's name is often added to the person's baptismal name. The third Sacrament Saint received was that of Holy Communion, where Saint received the body of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
Saint has chosen the name Bernadette – Saint Bernadette was the young girl who was visited by Mary, the Mother of Jesus, in Lourdes.
Please do keep Saint in your prayers.
