Applying to Holy Cross: Personal statement top tips

29th Oct 2026

Completing your college application form can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be.

If you're applying to Holy Cross, we ask these five questions in the Personal Statement section of our application form.

Use these questions to tell us about what makes you unique, what inspires you and what you hope to achieve in the future.

Remember, we're not looking for the "perfect" answer. We want to learn more about you, your interests, your ambitions and what you'll bring to our college community.

1. What attracts you to Holy Cross College in particular? (Why Holy Cross?)

Think about:

  • What impressed you at Open Events?
  • What opportunities excite you?
  • Why have you chosen Holy Cross over other colleges?

Top tip: Avoid answers like "my friends are coming here" or "it's closest to home."
