What happens during enrolment and how long does it take?

STEP 1 – PHOTOGRAPH

On arrival at Holy Cross, you will sign in and have your photograph taken for your ID badge which you'll collect at the end of the process.

STEP 2 – ENROLMENT

You will spend time with a member of staff (your enroller) who will guide you through the enrolment process, and this will include a full discussion about your course choices and your exam results.

Please note: We aim to consider any appropriate requests for subject changes at enrolment, but we cannot guarantee any subject changes from your Conditional offer at this stage.

DURING ENROLMENT – UNIVERSITY OPTIONS

If you’re considering going to university in the future, it’s important that you’re aware of and have researched specific entry requirements for courses you may be interested in.

If you are unsure at any point during your enrolment, please ask your enroller to arrange for you to speak to our Careers team.

Due to the number of courses on offer at universities and their related conditions, the college cannot be certain of all requirements and as such, students are encouraged to take some ownership of this.

STEP 3 – ELIGIBILITY DOCUMENTS

You will be asked to provide your eligibility evidence (see What do I need to bring with me?) to complete your enrolment.

You will collect your lanyard and ID badge, and receive information regarding applying for Our Passthe Bursary (if appropriate) and your Induction at college.

For most students, enrolment will take about an hour.

What do I need to bring with me? PLEASE READ this section to ensure you bring the correct documents

It’s very important that you bring the following documents to your appointment. We may not be able to complete your enrolment if you cannot provide these.

1. YOUR EXAM RESULTS

Make sure you have access to a formal record of your results for ALL your exams, including results for any exams taken in previous years.

We will also need to know your UCI and ULN numbers. These should be on your results slips but your school Exams Department will have them if not.

A clear photo of your results on your phone will be accepted.

2. YOUR UK PASSPORT OR UK BIRTH CERTIFICATE

You will need to bring either a UK passport or your UK birth certificate.

A clear photo on your phone of either of these will be accepted.

If you don't have either of these documents, please see the I don’t have a UK birth certificate or UK passport – what do I need to bring? section below and why we request this evidence.

3. CONTACT DETAILS – IF THEY HAVE CHANGED

If any contact details (such as address, phone or email) for either yourself or your parents/carers have changed since you applied, please have these with you.

These details are vital if we ever need to contact you or your parents/carers.

4. LEARNING SUPPORT DOCUMENTATION (if applicable)

If you have an EHCP/Form 8 or any other relevant SEND documentation, please bring these with you.

Please refer to the I need to access Learning Support – what do I need to bring with me? section for more information.

Can I bring a photo of my ID and results on my phone?

Yes, as long as the information is clearly visible.

I don’t have a UK birth certificate or UK passport – what do I need to bring?

Holy Cross Sixth Form College receives funding to provide education to students under 19 from the government, via the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

This funding is received by the college once it can demonstrate to the ESFA that individual students are eligible for the funding.

We require one of the following documents to prove your eligibility to study with us, which you need to show at enrolment:

  • UK Passport
  • UK Birth Certificate
  • Home Office Share Code to prove your immigration status

If you do not have a UK passport or UK birth certificate, you will need to generate a Home Office Share Code to prove your immigration status.

I need to generate a Home Office Share Code – how do I do this?

This video from the Home Office explains how to generate a Share Code.

To generate a Share Code, please click here.

Make sure you generate a Share Code to prove your immigration status for anything else on the Why do you need a share code? page:

Select this option for enrolment

To avoid delaying your enrolment, please make sure the Share Code you provide is working and in-date, before attending enrolment.

It’s a good idea to save your Share Code on your phone so it’s easily accessible at enrolment:

I need to access Learning Support – what do I need to bring with me?

If you have indicated that you have a specific learning need and will need support during your time at college (including special exam considerations), then you must see the Learning Support Team at enrolment.

Please ask your enroller to take you to the Learning Support Team if this is relevant to you.

  • Please bring any relevant information with you e.g. exam evidence (Form 8), EHCP, Annual review documentation, previous support plan etc. if these have not been submitted already at transition stage.

Please note: If you do not make yourself known to the Learning Support Team at enrolment or immediately when you start at college, any support you need could be delayed.

Any questions? Contact our Learning Support Department here.

How do I access my timetable and register for the college IT systems?

Step 1: After you have completed enrolment, you will be able to register to access the college’s IT systems.

To do this, log on to your Student Portal and follow the on-screen instructions (under Your College Account Details).
